BIO
Kate is a multi award-winning author, film producer and investigative journalist. Born in a Lancashire mill town, the social inequalities she observed from a young age have driven her work, values and beliefs.
She began her career as a radio reporter before producing and directing in-depth investigations for BBC News and Current Affairs and Channel 4. After establishing her own TV production company, she oversaw the production of more than one hundred documentaries for domestic and international broadcasters, later holding editorial posts at both the BBC and Channel 4.
In recent years, Kate was the London head of a European drama company, managing its international slate. She has also written widely for national and international publications, and her narrative non-fiction books have become international bestsellers, adapted into documentaries and films sold worldwide.
Kate is a member of Directors UK, a mentor with Supporting Wounded Veterans, and a supporter of the Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome Association (CVSA UK).

Kate’s work has been widely recognised for its investigative depth and storytelling. The Spy Who Stole My Life won the Hors Concors citation at the Banff World Television Awards and was nominated for Best Factual Documentary at the Royal Television Society Awards. Her film Caught Between a Rock and a Hard Place won First Prize at the Banff International Film Festival, and her work on the BBC 2 documentary series Correspondent Europe was nominated for the prestigious Prix d'Italia.
